Judie (Jaye)'s Story
[update on 2/28/2019] It occurs to me that I didn't denote the date when I wrote last. Nor does it seem that anyone else does, so it's hard to know, like when someone says 'I'll be retiring soon," when that actually will be. So now you know. I'm 64 this year. Next year I hope to retire. I know that some of you have already retired and I am envious. But my time is coming soon. The world is changing rapidly. Politics divide and the climate is changing in ways unfathomable. I look at some of our old pictures and only then do I know you. Have we all changed that much? Yup, I guess we have. Anyway...I hope anyone reading this is healthy and happy and enjoying life, love, family and friends. And perhaps a glass or two of wine to wash it all down. Peace! PS: if you want to connect, my email is alias4cat at gmail dot com.
I took the circular route. Went to PBCC directly after graduation. I was living at home and my parents divorced. Life changed. I dropped out. Worked. Went back to PBCC and got an AA degree. Worked some more. Became a business owner (auto rentals). Worked another decade. Went to FAU and got a BA. I hit my 30s, I thought it was time to return to school and finish whatever it is that I wanted to do in life. So I got a law degree (Ft. Lauderdale). Practiced law here i...Expand for more
n WPB. After some time, I became, frankly, tired of Florida and wanted to get the heck outta here. So I moved to Oregon. I still work in law, but in a far more rewarding profession.
Enough time has passed (I just turned 60! How did that happen?) to help me accept that I miss a lot of my old Florida life and understand my lack of appreciation of what I had when I was there. I wouldn't have changed any decisions about moving, but I miss the warm ocean (I gave up ocean diving when I moved to Oregon), walking in warm sand and having water everywhere. But I love it here too. The West Coast is a far more friendly and open environment than that which I experienced in sunny FLA. I believe that anywhere you live can be wonderful if your life is fulfilled and fulfilling.
I'm kinda far away to attend reunions, and the only one I made it to was our 10th, while I was still in FL. But who knows what the future holds and it would be fun to see whoever shows up. If you have the ability to obtain my email, feel free to write me and I'll respond. I drop by this site from time to time to look at what others have written and look at old pictures. I remember all of you from the old pics. The new ones are surprising, eh? If you're reading this, I wish you joy in your life. Drink it up! Cheers.
